- “Bishop Stevenson, the Lord will qualify those whom He calls.”
This is true for Elder Stevenson and everyone in the Lord's work. The Lord supports each of us as we do the best job we can. As a church we believe that our church leaders are inspired to issue callings at the direction of the Spirit. When callings are issued and accepted through the inspiration of the spirit, the Lord helps us reach out and serve His children.
Life is not always easy though. Elder Stevenson reminds us that Heavenly Father is mindful of the times we live in. He says:
- Heavenly Father’s generous compensation for living in perilous times is that we also live in the fulness of times.
Heavenly Father is mindful of our challenges and the stresses that this life has to offer. He blesses us by giving us the fulness of the gospel to bless our lives. But with that blessing, we have a responsibility to share it with others.
To conclude his talk, he talks about his feeling of inadequacy but promised to focus on what he can do instead of what he can't do. He said what he can do is:
- I can testify of the plain and precious truths of the gospel.
Elder Stevenson's humble nature really demonstrates his love for the Savior and his reliance on Him for all he has. I can follow his example and share my testimony of the truths of the gospel. I may not be anything special but I can share my testimony and hope to be an instrument to inspire someone to follow Christ a little more in their life.
